概要
臨床疫学とは、疫学手法を応用して診療行為や検査?治療法などの有効性と効率性を評価する学問です。当分野では国際的な視点を持ち、エビデンスを活用するだけでなく自ら研究によってエビデンスを導き出し、リーダーとなる歯科医師すなわち「国際的視点を持つハイブリッド型リーダー歯科医師」の育成を目標として掲げています。
教育面では、臨床疫学およびEvidence-Based Dentistry（根拠に基づく歯科医療）に関する科目を担当しています。研究面では、臨床家と共に日常診療における様々な疑問を解決するための臨床疫学研究を行っています。特に力を入れているのが、米国National Dental PBRNとの国際共同研究です。
